Biography

Ron Robinson’s formal education includes a Diploma in Architectural Technology from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology followed by a B.Ed. with majors in History and Geography from the University of Calgary.  A teaching career followed with 19 years in the area of Industrial and Vocational Education, including Design and Fabrication Studies.  In about 1993 he began his journey in to Art, with courses from the Alberta College of Art and Design and Red Deer College.  He is a member of the Alberta Printmakers Society, Visual Arts Alberta Association, Alberta Craft Council, art! Bowmont (an artists’ collective), Sculptors' Association of Alberta and CARFAC.

Over the past 17 years his Art has tended to be a journey through inter-connected ideas and inspirations that have pushed  in to a wide variety of media that include: sculpture in stone, wood, ceramic, metal and mixed media; relief printing and mixed media.  He maintains an extensive home studio and currently has over 160 pieces in private collections in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba and the U.S.A. He was a partner in Vanishing Point Art Gallery (Calgary).
